And Lionel Messi finally lifted his first major trophy for the national team, filling in one of the biggest gaps in his decorated career.
Argentina won its record-breaking 16th Copa América title by defeating Colombia 1–0 after extra time in Miami Gardens, Florida. The final was delayed by over an hour due to incidents near the stadium and featured Shakira as the halftime performer.
