North Carolina QB Max Johnson Suffers Season-Ending Injury
North Carolina quarterback Max Johnson suffered a devastating injury during the season opener against Minnesota, which led to him being carted off the field and taken to the hospital.
Injury Details
The senior quarterback underwent surgery for a broken femur and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season. This is a huge blow to the Tar Heels, as Johnson was expected to be a key player this season.
Backup QB Steps Up
Sophomore quarterback Conner Harrell replaced the injured Johnson in the third quarter and helped guide North Carolina to a win in their season opener.
Max Johnson, the son of former NFL quarterback Brad Johnson, was a 4-star recruit in the 2020 recruiting class. He signed with LSU out of Oconee County High in Watkinsville, Georgia, before transferring to Texas A&M and eventually North Carolina.
The Tar Heels will have to adjust to life without their starting quarterback, but they can take solace in knowing that Harrell is capable of stepping up and leading the team to victory.
